Two sets of lithographs were produced with the Curwen Press, London. This included the series The Aegean Suite (1971) - from which Sun and Marble is taken - which developed Hepworth’s fascination with Greece and made links between geometric forms and sites associated with ancient Greek culture. Like many of her other graphic works on paper, the works also deal with celestial subject matter and include abstract representations of the sun and the moon.
Each print is bespoke - it is produced on demand (POD) on fine art paper (280gsm): ideal for museum-quality reproductions and gives a gently textured matt surface, using a SwissQ print system: a state-of-the-art, large-format flatbed printer. Swiss-made, it’s fitted with low energy LED lights and cutting-edge UV printing processes, allowing us to print exceptionally precisely, reduce paper waste, and be more energy efficient. The inks used are vegan, VOC, NVC and TPO free.
Frames are handmade from sustainably sourced wood and acrylic plexiglass. We use 90% UV-protected shatter-resistant acrylic glazing to preserve prints from light damage and bleaching. Cast acrylic is a high-quality material, offering many benefits including 92% optical clarity. Cast acrylic is also fully recyclable
Framed prints are delivered ready to hang.
